LaPTIC advocates that parents can and should become effective partners with professionals in the planning and implementing of appropriate programs.  The program is committed to helping parents of children with disabilities to become full participants in their children's educational process.  All parent facilitators with the program are also parents of children with disabilities.

When LeDerick Horne was in the third grade, he was told he didn't have much of a future. But despite being classified as neurologically impaired, Horne has spent his life overcoming his disability and has become successful spoken word poet, playwright, motivational speaker, and advocate.
